About the event
We were honored to host a dynamic seminar led by choreographer and educator Miaotian Sun, who shared her expertise on teaching Chinese dance to non-Chinese audiences through a cross-cultural lens.
Miaotian introduced participants to core elements of Chinese dance—breath, imagery, and rhythm—while addressing key cultural and pedagogical differences in learning styles. She emphasized how concepts like “collectivity” and “ritual” are understood differently across cultures, and how these insights can shape more effective and inclusive teaching strategies.

Merging Tradition & Innovation:Chinese dance in the Digital Age
A highlight of the seminar was her discussion on integrating new technologies into traditional dance practices. Miaotian encouraged thinking beyond the studio, showing how digital tools can help preserve cultural heritage while inspiring new choreographic languages.
Through her unique approach, Miaotian continues to position Chinese dance as a meaningful voice in global cultural dialogue.
We thank her for an inspiring session that brought tradition, innovation, and connection to life through movement.
